West Point Band to Perform Free Concert Tomorrow Night

The Oct. 13 will take place at Bloomfield High School at 7:30 p.m.

The West Point Band, the oldest premier band in the U.S. Army, will perform a free concert on Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. at Bloomfield High School.

The free performance will be under the direction of Deputy Commander Capt. Dae Kim. 

Dr. Tom McCauley, director of bands at Montclair State University, will be featured as a guest conductor during the evening’s performance.

Featured in the program will be selections including Dmitiri Shostakovich’s “Festive Overture” as well as J.S. Bach’s “Toccata and Fugue in d minor,” both arranged by Donald Hunsberger. 

For those who enjoy modern music, the band will feature Evan Zyporin’s “Drill,” featuring Sgt. First Class Sam Kaestner.

Additionally, the talents of Sgt. First Class Jason Ham will perform “Sir Eu” on euphonium. 

The band will also present John Philip Sousa’s “Easter Monday on the White House Lawn” and Philip Egner’s “The Official West Point March.”
