Which Road in Bloomfield Needs a Speed Bump?
We asked Patch readers on Facebook what streets they thought needed a speed bump. Find out what your neighbors told us.

Bloomfield, N.J. - Over 9,000 fatalities occurred nationally during 2014 due to speeding according to the latest statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The data also shows a correlation between a driver’s age and the likelihood of a speed-related accident. As the age of a driver increases, their risk of being in an accident decreases. Men are also more likely to be at the wheel during a speeding accident, according to the study.
While the number of speed-related fatalities have continually decreased since 2005, speeding still remains an issue in many of our Patch communities, including Bloomfield. Readers suggested everything from increased police presence to more stop signs to building less housing to keep traffic at bay.

- "Berkeley Ave. Although, since it is the only direct-through street to Clara Maas Hospital and used by emergency vehicles, I understand speed bumps cannot be installed. Speed traps would be helpful, though or perhaps one of those electronic signs stating your speed."
- "North Spring Street"
- "Willet Street for sure.. It's narrow enough as it is, and people fly by and hit side mirrors off cars."
- "North 17th St."
- "Thomas St. is a cut-through. They painted "SLOW" on the street recently. When motorists are doing 50 mph, " [that's] not so effective.
- "Franklin Street by the car wash"
- "JFK at the place where the kids cross the street from Foley Field to the CVS parking lot"
- "West Passaic Ave. People think it's an extension of Route 3 and forget to slow down."
- "Baldwin Place leads into Wrights Field, and cars recklessly fly down!"
- "Pulaski St. It's a short street. Folks speed down in order to avoid the light at Broughton and Chapel."
- "Linden Ave., the Glen Ridge border. It's a hill. Most people speed down it to the train or Glenwood Ave. Lots of kids play there, [and there are] lots of accidents, blowing through the stop sign at the Clinton crossing. A speed bump would be amazing to the safety there."
- "Willard Ave."
- "Broughton Ave."
- "Sadler Road"
- "Davey Street"
