Brewery Bidding Lakewood Farewell, Preparing For Brick Opening

BRICK, NJ — It's been a long process, but get ready to raise a glass: Icarus Brewing has announced its grand opening in Brick Township.

To open its new building on Route 88 at the site of the former Shore Restaurant Supply store, the craft brewery has to close its current site in Lakewood.

To celebrate, Icarus Brewing is holding what it's calling "Last Call Lakewood" this weekend.

"Join us for an epic weekend of incredible music, delicious food, and our extensive tap list," the owners said on the brewery's Facebook page on Friday.

They also launched a new beer whose name — We Assure You We're Opening! — that pokes fun at the lengthy ordeal that has gone into the new location. The plans for the new microbrewery and taproom were approved in August 2021.

The celebration is set for Friday, Saturday and Sunday (June 14-16) at the brewery's site at 1790 Swarthmore Ave., from noon to 10 p.m. Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

They have bands scheduled each night and food trucks are scheduled as well, with Spanky’s Sandwiches on Friday and Sunday, and Taco Loco on Saturday.

After Sunday, they will be making the final move to the new facility on Route 88, where they have scheduled the grand opening for July 20. The events are scheduled from noon to 10 p.m. according to the Facebook event listing.

"We assure you, we're opening," the event says. "We're so stoked to finally be able to reveal the GRAND OPENING DATE of our soon-to-be new location at 2045 Route 88."

Part of the plans for the Icarus site included a restaurant, and in December 2023 the owners announced they had signed a rental agreement with Burger 25.

Burger 25 has not yet announced its opening date, but the restaurant was advertising for employees for its Brick location on Friday.

"We can not wait to celebrate with you all," Icarus's owners wrote on the Last Call Lakewood event page.
