Brick Man Who Got Teens To Send Sex Videos Sentenced To Federal Prison

The man was arrested in 2023 after authorities found sexually explicit videos a teen sent to him during an unrelated investigation.

TRENTON, NJ — A Brick Township man has been sentenced to 14 years in federal prison for receiving videos and images of child pornography, federal authorities said.

Daniel Nilla, 37, previously pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Michael A. Shipp in Trenton to three counts of receipt of child pornography, Senior Counsel Philip Lamparello said.

He was charged in August 2023 after authorities said he communicated with multiple girls — all of whom lived outside New Jersey — via social media between Dec. 12, 2021 and April 28, 2023.

Authorities said he had communicated with at least five victims and knew they were minors when he communicated with them. During the communications, Nilla directed the victims to send him images and videos of themselves engaging in sexually explicit conduct via Snapchat, which Nilla used for his sexual gratification.

The videos were discovered when authorities in Virginia were investigating a sexual assault and found that a 14-year-old girl had been communicating with Nilla and had his phone numbers stored in her phone, authorities said. She had sent him sexually explicit videos of herself at his request, authorities said.
