Brick Home Intruder Who Shot At Cop Dies: Prosecutor
The 28-year-old fired at a Brick police officer before turning the gun on himself Monday morning, authorities said.
BRICK, NJ - A Brick Township man who fired at a Brick police officer before turning the gun on himself Monday has died, authorities said.
Shortly before 9 a.m. on Monday, Brick police received a 911 call from a woman saying that she had seen on her Ring doorbell that her ex-husband, Corey Johnson, 28, had broken into her Judy Court house, Billhimer said.
After getting the notification, the woman left her workplace and was on the phone with a 911 dispatcher when she arrived at the parking lot of her residence, Billhimer said.

At that time, Johnson had left the home, and pulled his car in front of hers, blocking her in, Billhimer said.
A Brick police officer arrived on the scene and, when he left his car Johnson left his car as well, firing a shot in the officer's direction, Billhimer said.

The bullet struck the cop car's windshield; the police officer suffered minor injuries to his arm from glass shards as a result of the shot fired at the windshield of his patrol vehicle, Billhimer said.
He was transported to Ocean University Medical Center in Brick Township where he was treated for his injuries and later released.
Immediately after firing the shot, Johnson turned the gun on himself, Billhimer said.
Police rendered aid and Johnson was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where he died of his injuries Wednesday morning, Billhimer said.
