Brick Township Hiring Summer Workers, Preschool Teachers
The township is looking for lifeguards and beach badge checkers, and teachers for the town's preschool program.

BRICK, NJ — Brick Township is hiring for its summer seasonal positions and welcoming applications.
Lifeguards, badge checkers, maintenance workers for Windward Beach, and summer camp counselors are being hired for the summer 2024 season.
In addition, the township is looking for part-time preschool teachers for the upcoming school year.

Lifeguards and maintenance workers must be 16 to work, and badge checkers and camp counselors must be 15, town officials said.
The preschool teaching positions are part-time, about 12 hours per week, and are for 10 months, from August to June. The schedule varies depending on the assigned class, and the pay ranges from $15.13 to $25 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Duties include leading activities, engaging with children, reading stories, and interacting with other teachers and parents. Applicants must enjoy interacting with young children, be patient, self-directed and supportive toward the learning process. Other valuable attributes include excellent communication skills and a passion for the work. Experience working in child care is preferred, but not required.
Here are the details of the summer positions:
CAMP COUNSELORS: Camp runs from July 1 through Aug. 6, Mondays through Fridays, 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. weather permitting. There will be a mandatory staff training day. Counselors must comply with all procedures, policies and practices. Counselors are responsible for campers ages 5-13 and must be able to supervise a variety of recreational activities. No experience necessary. Starting pay is $15.13 per hour. Must be 15 years old.
LIFEGUARDS: Must be able to swim 500 yards and run 1 mile. Applicants must provide a doctor's note and all paperwork prior to tryout. Tryouts are set for 3 p.m. on May 7 at Brick Beach 3. Training will be provided. Must be available May 17-19 for training. Season is Memorial Day through Labor Day. Starting pay is $16 per hour. Must be 16 years old.
BADGE CHECKERS: Must be 15 years old. Must be courteous and responsible. No experience necessary. Season is Memorial Day through Labor Day. Work hours are 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Starting pay is $15.13 per hour.
WINDWARD BEACH MAINTENANCE: Must be 16 years old. Responsibilities include park maintenance, litter cleanup, building maintenance, cleaning and various other duties. Must comply with all safety standards. Must be responsible and dependable. Starting pay $14.13 per hour.
