Brick Prepping Roads Ahead Of Post-Christmas Storm
Still stinging from residents' anger after the Dec. 14 storm, township officials made sure crews were salting the roads early Friday.
BRICK, NJ — After issues left Brick Township roads a mess and residents frustrated following the Dec. 14 snowstorm, Brick Township made sure crews were out prepping ahead of Friday's storm.
Residents were asked to make sure their vehicles and other items such as portable basketball hoops were off the streets ahead of the storm moving into the area Friday afternoon.
Public works crews were salting the roads beginning at 6:30 a.m. Friday, township officials said. The National Weather Service is calling for 2 to 3 inches of snow and sleet in northern Ocean County, according to the update released Friday morning. A second shift of public works crews was scheduled for later in the day Friday to either continue salting or, if enough snow accumulates, plow the roads. Plowing begins when there is 4 inches of snow accumulated.
Mayor Lisa Crate had expressed frustration about the town's response to the Dec. 14 storm as well and said the town was addressing the problems to avoid issues in the future.

"We are committed to ensuring that our response to future snow events are managed in a way that meets the expectations of the community," Crate wrote.
