NEWARK, NJ — A Brick Township woman has been charged along with an Elizabeth man with child sex trafficking, advertising girls under the age of 18 online for sex services, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said Wednesday.

Destiny Tamarato, 26, of Brick, and Daquan McCallum, 30, of Elizabeth, have been charged with sex trafficking of a minor and conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking of a minor, authorities said.

In April 2020, Tamarato was arrested at a motel in Elizabeth with two minor victims after law enforcement located an online advertisement for sexual services and communicated with Tamarato, who agreed to provide sexual services for an agreed-upon price, federal authorities said.

After being told one of the girls was underage, Tamarato then continued to advertise that victim’s sexual services online, authorities said. Tamarato was again arrested for engaging in prostitution with the same victim in April 2021, authorities said.

Tamarato also introduced the victim to McCallum, who then arranged for the victim to engage in additional commercial sex work, despite knowing that the victim was a minor, authorities said.

The two advertised the victim for sex work on multiple platforms dozens of times, according to court documents filed in the case.

Tamarato made her initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge André M. Espinosa on Nov. 15 and has been ordered held in jail, and McCallum made his initial appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Stacey D. Adams on Tuesday. He also was detained, authorities said.
