Delaney 'Doesn’t Settle For Good Enough': Brick Star Student
We all know students who excel in academics, fine arts or volunteer service. Here's one who's having an impact in Brick Township.

BRICK, NJ — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Susan Shirak, who nominated her granddaughter, Delaney, of Brick.
Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Delaney, who is a sophomore, is truly an exceptional young lady, and I am so proud of all she has accomplished already. Delaney is a true perfectionist in every sense of the word. Whether it is studying for an exam or playing volleyball, she always aims to do her very best. What sets her apart is that she doesn’t settle for “good enough”, she strives for excellence in all that she does.
As a result, Delaney is a straight-A student who will take the hardest courses available to her. She is always pushing herself academically, and her hard work and dedication have paid off in a big way. She consistently earns top marks and is highly regarded by her teachers.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Delaney is also a talented volleyball player. She pours her heart and soul into the sport, always trying to improve her skills and help her team to succeed. Her competitive spirit is matched only by her love of the game, and it is truly a joy to watch her play. Delaney remains humble and kind-hearted. She is always will to lend a listening ear or offer a helping hand to those in need. Her selflessness and compassion truly set her apart, and I have no doubt that she will continue to make a difference in the world around her.
I can’t say enough good things about my granddaughter. Anyone who has the privilege of knowing her is truly lucky.
