Fire Destroys Home Undergoing Renovations In Brick

The fire left the structure unsafe, authorities said.

BRICK, NJ — A Brick Township home undergoing renovations caught fire Thursday morning, leaving the home uninhabitable, officials said.

The fire on Lexington Drive was reported at 8:09 a.m. by workers who were doing the renovation project, officials with the Brick Township Bureau of Fire Safety said.

There were no injuries, officials said.

Herbertsville Fire Company arrived and Fire Chief Jim Lepore requested mutual aid after seeing the flames shooting through the roof. Breton Woods, Pioneer Hose and Laurelton fire companies also responded and the fire was brought under control quickly, officials said.

The house was posted as unsafe by the Brick Township Building Department. Inspectors Robert Kurilla and Paul Matula from the fire safety bureau are investigating the cause, officials said.

Point Pleasant, Bay Head and Squankum Fire companies provided mutual aid coverage.

"The Brick Township Fire Service would like to thank all of our mutual aid partners for their assistance on location and for standing by for coverage assignments," officials said.
