Friends Assist Brick Family After Fire Destroys Home
The two-alarm fire off Burnt Tavern Road left a Brick Township family homeless.

BRICK, NJ — Friends of a Brick Township family are raising money to help them after a fire destroyed their home on Saturday.
The fire on Carole Avenue, which happened shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday, forced three people from the home, according to the Red Cross of New Jersey.
Desiree Schotka, a friend of the family, said everyone got out safely but the family was searching for one of its cats. The house and their belongings were ruined.

"As of now they are staying with a neighbor until everything else is sorted out," Schotka wrote on a GoFundMe campaign that was seeking to raise $5,000 for immediate expenses.
"We are not sure of what’s going to happen, but if anyone can please help out in any way it is greatly appreciated. It’s always extremely hard to lose everything so suddenly, but especially this time of year so close to the holiday," Schotka wrote.
