BRICK, NJ — A large retail space in Brick Township is slated to be filled in the coming months, after Hobby Lobby signed a lease for the former Christmas Tree Shops site in Brick.

The space, in the Market Place At Brick on Route 70, has been mostly empty since Christmas Tree Shops closed down in August 2023.

Spirit Halloween occupied the site for part of 2024, selling its Halloween wares then transitioning to become one of a handful of Spirit Christmas shops as that company gave the Christmas theme a trial run.

The Edgewood Properties leasing plan dated Feb. 7 shows Hobby Lobby in the 50,000-square-foot space that had been home to Christmas Tree Shops.

It's unclear when Hobby Lobby will open for business. Messages left for the leasing agent, Joe Morris, and for Hobby Lobby's media representative were not returned Wednesday.

The Brick Township store would be the first in Ocean County and the 18th in New Jersey. There are three in Monmouth County, in Howell, Holmdel and Neptune.
