Letter: 'Make Your Voices Heard' on Bond Ordinance
Incoming council members object to spending of 'lame-duck council'

To the Editor:
At the first Brick Council meeting after the election, Brick Mayor Acropolis and the Council voted to borrow an additional $5.9 million for special projects, including another $3.5 million for Trader's Cove.
The recent election makes it clear that the taxpayers want spending brought under control, and they want the council to provide a check on Mayor Acropolis's spending. The new council members, who will be sworn in on Jan. 1, should have the opportunity to carefully study this bond ordinance to determine if all the projects being funded by this $5.9 million bond are necessary.

It is wrong for the mayor and the lame-duck council members to rack up millions more in debt on their way out the door, and we urge the current council members to reconsider their initial vote to approve this bond.
The final approval for this $5.9 million in new debt will be voted on in the council meeting this Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Brick Township Municipal Building. We urge residents of Brick to come out to this meeting and make your voices heard.
