The Flash: Vertical Velocity is opening to the public as Six Flags Great Adventure begins the 2025 season. See what else is new at the park.
JACKSON, NJ — Six Flags Great Adventure will unveil its newest thrill ride, The Flash: Vertical Velocity, when the theme park opens for the 2025 season on Saturday.
The amusement park, which is marking its 51st season, is hosting a special event for season passholders where they can reserve rides on the new coaster for the first two weekends, March 29-30 and April 5-6, according to the park's website.
It's also the first full season the park will be operating since the merger with Dorney Park's parent company Cedar Fair was finalized.

The Flash: Vertical Velocity is a super boomerang coaster and has a 180-degree twisted drop followed by a Zero-G roll back to the vertical tower that rises 172 feet in the air. The coaster reaches speeds of up to 60 mph as it launches riders forward and backward. It treats riders to a sense of micro-gravity as the ride runs upside down almost 100 feet off the ground.
The ride, the first-of-its-kind in North America and only the second boomerang coaster in the world, was anticipated to open for Memorial Day weekend in 2024, but construction delays forced the opening to be pushed back, park officials have said.
The 2025 season opens with other significant changes. Kingda Ka was demolished in late February, one of five rides being removed to make way for new coasters that are anticipated to be constructed in the next year as part of a $1 billion investment into the theme park. Also being removed were Green Lantern, the Twister, the Parachutes ride, and the Sky Way, park officials said. Read more: Coaster Rumors Confirmed, $1B In Changes Coming To Six Flags
