Man Run Over By Vehicle Following Fight In Brick Store Parking Lot

Brick police said the man remained hospitalized on Sunday.

BRICK, NJ — A man remained hospitalized on Sunday after he was run over by a vehicle during a fight at a convenience store on Saturday, Brick Township police said.

The man's identity has not been released. Brick police said the man is alive, n spite of rumors circulating on social media.

The incident happened at the Jersey Farms store on Lanes Mill Road, police said.

The fight was reported about 1:30 p.m. The initial investigation showed an argument among four people escalated into fight.

"As three of the individuals attempted to leave, the fourth pursued them, fell, and was struck by a vehicle," Brick police said.

Video of the fight shared with Patch shows two men outside the store throwing punches. One man grabs the other and wrestles him to the ground. As he kneels and prepares to throw another punch, two other men approach and one of them kicks the kneeling man in the face. Then both of the men who approached punched him several times, freeing the man who had been wrestled down, who threw one more punch. The video ends with the man who had been kneeling on the ground partially lying in a parking space.

The man who was hit by the vehicle was taken to a hospital and treated for injuries, police said.

The investigation is continuing and Brick Township police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to call the police department at 732-262-1100.
