Marybeth Coughlin Kuhar, Animal Activist, Dies At 77

Marybeth Kuhar, who lived in Brick for more than 30 years, was passionate about animals and loved her cats as well as her family.

BRICK, NJ — Marybeth Coughlin Kuhar of Brick, who worked on Wall Street for many years and was a passionate animal activist, died Sunday, Aug. 5, at Ocean Medical Center. She was 77.

Marybeth, who had an associate's degree in human sciences, lived in Brick for more than 30 years, family members said. Preparations were planned by her in advance to donate her body to New Jersey’s University of Health Sciences Robert Wood Medical School Anatomical Association.

She will be greatly missed by her devoted daughter Tracy Kuhar Chandler, granddaughter Jillian Grace Chandler, sister Catherine Coughlin and many felines.

Friends may attend her Homecoming Service on Monday, Aug. 13, at Saint Dominic's Roman Catholic Church, 250 Old Squan Road, Brick. The service will begin at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to your local Animal Humane Society in Marybeth's memory.
