Motorcyclist, 64, Dies In Brick Boulevard Crash

The Brick Township man appeared to be trying to stop before the motorcycle slid, police said.

BRICK, NJ — A Brick Township man died Wednesday when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a pickup truck at Yorktowne Boulevard, police said.

Horace Giambona, 64, was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune following the crash that happened on Brick Boulevard at 2:34 p.m., police said.

Rick Stamm, 56, of Brick, was driving a white 2013 Dodge Ram pickup truck north on Brick Boulevard and had stopped at the Yorktowne Boulevard intersection to allow an ambulance with its emergency lights and siren activated to enter the intersection, police said.

Giambona was riding a 2000 Harley Davidson Electra Glide north on Brick Boulevard approaching the Yorktowne Boulevard intersection and appeared to be trying to stop, but went into a skid, police said.

Giambona laid the motorcycle down on its right side, and as he did, he came off the motorcycle. He and the motorcycle kept moving north and Giambona hit the left rear part of the pickup truck, where he was seriously injured.

The motorcycle continued to slide and came to rest in the right travel lane of Brick Boulevard, just north of the intersection of Yorktowne Boulevard.

Stamm, the driver of the pickup, was not injured, police said.

Brick Boulevard northbound was closed down and traffic was detoured for about 2 hours during the investigation, police said.

Patrolman David Thergesen is investigating the crash. Anyone who may have witnessed or has information related to the crash is asked to call Thergesen at 732-451-2037.
