• Son Paid NJ Man To Beat His Father To Death With A Baseball Bat. He's Headed To Prison (patch.com) — Brick residents are learning that Mark J. Austin has been sentenced to life in prison for arranging the brutal 2019 baseball-bat killing of his father, Mark Richard Austin, in their Cedar Bridge Manor home. Prosecutors say the Brick man’s conviction and life-without-parole sentence are meant to provide lasting accountability and some measure of peace for the victim’s loved ones.
   

• 1 Killed In Crash On Beaverson Boulevard In Brick (patch.com) — Drivers in Brick should know that one person was killed in a Wednesday night crash on Beaverson Boulevard, which shut the road in both directions at Shorrock Street. State Police and Brick Township police are still releasing details as the investigation continues.
   

• Brick Renews Contract With Animal Control Provider for 2026 (shorebeat.com) — Brick’s governing body has renewed its contract with A-Academy of South Jersey to handle animal control services through Dec. 31, 2026, keeping 2026 pricing the same as 2025. The Howell-based firm will cover routine weekday calls for a flat monthly fee, with clearly defined per-call rates for nights, weekends, and holidays, capped at $120,000 for the year.
