We all know students who excel in academics, fine arts or volunteer service. Here's one who's having an impact in Brick.

BRICK, NJ — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

This submission comes from Laura Kerwin, who nominated her daughter, Natalie, a senior from Brick.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Natalie has worked so hard all through high school. She is literally never home! In part, she has held numerous leadership positions for Brick Township High School clubs, is in 2 honor societies, is on the Mayor's Youth Council, and works every weekend for Princess Party Productions. She also has a side business doing makeup for special events and kids' parties. She did all this while getting As in her classes!

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

She just placed at the Teen Arts Festival in Ocean County in the category of 2D art, and will be moving forward to the state competition at the end of this month.

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Natalie!
