Firefighters Rescue 2 Cats From House Fire In Somerville
Firefighters were met with smoke spewing from the eaves and side of the home that appeared to be coming from the basement on Wednesday.
SOMERVILLE, NJ — Two cats were rescued from a house fire in Somerville on Wednesday.
At around 4:40 p.m., the Somerville Fire Department, along with Raritan and Finderne Fir,e went to 49 West Spring St. in Somerville for black smoke coming from the house and a burning smell.
Firefighters were met with smoke spewing from the eaves and side of the home that appeared to be coming from the basement, said the Somerville Fire Department.

The fire was found in the basement, which extended into the walls on the first floor.
Firefighters were able to control and extinguish the fire. Two cats were also rescued from the home.

"Strong work by all the departments involved, and thank you to the departments that covered our community while we operated on scene," said the fire department.
