Gourmet Breakfast & Lunch Café Opens In Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A new breakfast and lunch café has opened in Bridgewater but this one is a "notch" above the rest, says owner Ariana Lobo.

Lobo opened Bridgewater Café just before Mother's Day at 559 Union Ave. (Route 28), right next to her other business, The Mystic Lobster Roll. Lobo said she wanted to bring a fresh, healthy, gourmet take on breakfast to the township.

"Most breakfast places are always the same blah food," said Lobo. "Give me some excitement! Give me some green with my toast."

To achieve this, Lobo brought in Lauren Van Liew, aka Chef Covas, who is a Food Network Chopped champion and Food Network Supermarket Stakeout winner.

"I wanted to bring to Bridgewater breakfast but a notch higher. It's not your typical breakfast sausage egg and cheese sandwich on a kaiser roll," said Lobo. "It's a think outside the box type of breakfast."

A big component of what sets Bridgewater Café's menu apart from the rest is the bread.

"We have fresh-baked artisan bread brought to us daily in the morning. Bread makes everything awesome and delicious. Our bagels are made from artisan bread. It all compliments very well with the food," said Lobo.

Bridgewater Café offers homemade artisan bread, paninis, and gourmet hot food that is designed to have a little more healthy angle to it with more arugula, spinach, tomatoes, and hummus. Catering and platters are also available.

The café also has a coffee bar serving up Gramercy Park Coffee. They also offer assorted muffins, danishes, empanadas, and ice cream.

The homemade ice cream offers unique favors such as Almond Joy, Blueberry Cheesecake, and Strawberry Shortcake.

To kick off summer, Lobo is offering free ice cream to kids on Sunday, May 29 from noon to 3 p.m. A live DJ will also be at the event.
