4 Years, 70 Cats Saved By Bridgewater Rescue Group

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — It will be four years on Saturday since lifelong cat lover and Bridgewater resident Edie Hogan started Bernie's Buddies Cat Rescue.

Over that time, the 501(c)3 nonprofit organization has rescued and adopted out more than 70 cats and kittens.

"Although it's been a lot of hard work, Bernie's Buddies is happy and grateful for the 70-plus cats and kittens that have been rescued and adopted in our four years of operation," said Hogan to Patch.

She added that all of the cats and kittens that were rescued and adopted were fully vetted, spayed/neutered, and SNAP test negative.

"This means they won't be reproducing! We are thrilled that we have so many happy adopters who absolutely love their cats from Bernie's Buddies Cat Rescue!" said Hogan.

Hogan launched her 501(c)3 Bernie's Buddies Cat Rescue in May 2021. Named after one of her fosters, Hogan launched the rescue group because she saw other nearby shelters were having trouble taking in all of the rescues. The 100 percent volunteer-run cat rescue organization in Central New Jersey is dedicated to finding stable, loving homes for cats and kittens and providing our community of pet lovers education, tools, and resources for proper cat care.

Bernie's Buddies Cat Rescue's 4th Birthday will be held on Saturday, May 17, with an adoption day at Barkley's Cat & Dog Supplies at 3150 Route 202 in Branchburg from 1 to 5 p.m.

The nonprofit is also "desperately in need of donations," including cat food and litter. Anyone who buys cat food or litter at Barkley's receives 15 percent off their purchase.

Monetary donations are also accepted on venmo.com or paypal.com. They also have a wish list on Chewy.

Additionally, Bernie's Buddies now hosts a monthly Saturday adoption day at Pet Supplies Plus on Route 206 South in Hillsborough.
