BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Bridgewater school district officials are warning parents of a fake email account claiming to be a Bridgewater-Raritan Regional High School official.
The spam email account, using the name and image of Bridgewater-Raritan Regional High School Principal Daniel Hemberger has been used to request meetings or phone calls from various parents of students at the high school, officials said in a statement.
“This email account is not associated with Daniel Hemberger or the Bridgewater-Raritan School District,” district officials said. “Official communications from BRHS will be from an email that ends with @brrsd.k12.nj.us or @brrsd.org.”
While it was unclear what personal information the illegitimate account was seeking, similar school-related scams have been used to steal the recipients' passwords.
