Decomposing Body Found Inside Bridgewater Condo

Bridgewater Police Officers found the body on Wednesday in response to a 911 call for a welfare check.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A person in advanced stages of decomposition was found in a condo in Bridgewater on Wednesday, announced authorities.

On Wednesday at around 1:07 p.m., Bridgewater Police Officers were dispatched to a home on Crawford Court in response to a 911 call for a welfare check.

Upon gaining entry to the home, officers found a person in advanced stages of decomposition. This person was pronounced dead, said Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives Francisco Roman, Jr. and Bridgewater Township Chief of Police John Mitzak.

Bridgewater Police Detectives, along with detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Crime Scene Investigation Unit, and investigators from the New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office responded.

Authorities said, "no threats to the public have been identified from this investigation."

The unattended death remains under investigation pending a positive identification, autopsy report, and toxicology report from the New Jersey Northern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
