Duke Island Park To Close On Select Dates For Deer Control

Parks and trails will be closed at the Bridgewater park due to firearm use, officials said.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Yet another Somerset County park is set to close for periods during January and February this year for deer management, parks officials said.

Parks and trails at Duke Island Park in Bridgewater will be closed Jan. 24 and 31, as well as Feb. 7, for the deer population control, Somerset County Park Commission Park Rangers announced via social media.

Firearms will be in use during the dates; parks and trails will subsequently be closed.

Similarly, the deer management-related closures at Bridgewater’s Washington Valley Park will be in effect on Jan. 25, as well as Feb. 1 and 8.
