The Martinsville Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual open house on October 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Fire Station 1, (1912 Washington Valley Road) to celebrate Fire Prevention Week. The theme, this year, is Have An Escape Plan. Firefighters will be on hand to explain the essentials of emergency planning and escape routes, in case of a fire.
Also at the Open House we are planning to have the following:
- Fire trucks and equipment on display
- Fire prevention and fire safety hints
- Fire hose for the children to use to extinguish a simulated fire
- A "dunk the firefighter" tank
- Handouts including helmets, balloons, magnets, water bottles and literature for all visitors
- The Bridgewater Township's Fire Safety/Smoke house and trailer
- Refreshments
