HK Travel Owner Accused of Selling Fake E-Tickets
One family reports $9K theft; agency owner eyed as a suspect in as much as $140K worth of fraud.

A Bridgewater travel agent was arrested July 29 on charges of defrauding a South Brunswick family out of $9,000.
Seshmudah Sunkara, 39, was arrested and charged with theft after a family reported that tickets family members had purchased from her were found to be fraudulent. Sunkara owns HK Travel, on Milltown Road.
According to South Brunswick police, the family made reservations online and spoke over the phone with Sunkara to make plans for a trip to India. Sunkara, police said, provided e-tickets for the nine family members who were part of the reservation.

When the family arrived at the airport, police said, they were told that their e-ticket confirmation numbers were fraudulent.
Sunkara was transported to Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in default of $10,000 bail.

Since Sunkara's arrest, police said, 15 other victims have reported being victimized by her agency in New Jersey and New York, with a possible cumulative theft of more than $140,000.
Police said additional charges are expected to be filed by applicable agencies in the future.
South Brunswick Police Sgt. Jim Ryan said no further information is available at this time.
