Officer Injured After Man Assaults, Spits In Cop's Face In Somerset County: Police
An injured officer was later evaluated for his injury at a local medical facility.
RARITAN, NJ — A Raritan Police Officer was injured after a Borough man assaulted and spit in their face during an arrest, said police.
Daniel Gabino-Maldonado, 32, of Raritan, was charged with defiant trespass, obstruction, resisting arrest, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, and throwing bodily fluids at a law enforcement officer.
On June 1, at 8:50 p.m., Raritan patrol officers were called to a business on West Somerset Street for a trespassing complaint.

Officers encountered Maldonado, who had been previously trespassed from the business, said police.
Maldonado refused to provide his information and was advised he was under arrest, said police.

As Maldonado was being taken into custody, he assaulted an officer and spit in the officer’s face. After a brief struggle, Maldonado was taken into custody, said police.
An injured officer was later evaluated for his injury at a local medical facility.
Maldonado was lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a detention hearing. It is unknown whether or not he is still lodged in jail.
