Photos Sought for Somerset County Website

The deadline to submit photos is September 30.

The Somerset County Board of Chosen Freeholders is sponsoring a 2016 photo contest to showcase the beauty and attributes of this area. Residents and county staff are invited to submit entries between September 1 and September 30.

“We want to feature images on our website that depict Somerset County as a great place to live, work and play,” said Freeholder Director Patricia L. Walsh. “People submitted some stunning photos as part of last year’s contest and we look forward to seeing more beautiful images of the county.”

All submissions must be received by 4 p.m. on Friday, September 30. No late entries will be accepted. Images can be submitted in either JPG or PNG formats via the county’s website here. Individuals can enter up to a total of five photos. See photo contest instructions for more information.

Photo Contest entries should reflect one of five themes:

· Community – for example, neighborhoods, important local places

· Natural Environment – for example, lakes, rivers, forests, parks, or wildlife

· Architecture and Urban Design – including plazas, buildings, boulevards, etc.

· Transportation – for example, streets, buses, trains, bicycle and pedestrian paths

· Arts & Culture – including museums, events, entertainment, public art, etc.

Contestants are responsible for acquiring photo releases from identifiable individuals featured in the photographs. See photo contest instructions for more information.

A panel of judges will select a winner and runner-up for each Photo Contest theme, as well as an overall contest winner. Winners will be notified by e-mail. Top entries may be showcased on the county’s website and on printed materials.
