Police Blotter: DWIs, Shoplifting and Burglaries

Bridgewater Township Police Department releases its police blotter for Aug. 11.

Bridgewater police responded to several shoplifting and theft reports this week, among other incidents:

  • A car owner reported that a vehicle parked at White Rock Park was broken into July 25, and a purse was stolen. Inside the purse were credit cards, a cell phone, a New Jersey driver's license and cash.
  • David Weir, 65, of Schooley's Mountain, was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, failure to observe a signal and failure to produce documents while driving on Route 22 West July 28.
  • A Mallard Drive resident reported July 31 that someone broke into the house by smashing a basement window. Once inside, the person stole assorted items of jewelry.
  • Rachel Rosen, 43, of Bernardsville, was charged with shoplifting after she was allegedly caught removing $339.75 worth of items from Wegman's on Aug. 1.
  • Gabor Bode, 42, of North Plainfield was charged with shoplifting after he was allegedly found removing a portable computer hard drive worth $129.99 from Costco Aug. 3.
  • A Cambridge Lane resident reported Aug. 3 that someone entered the residence through an unlocked back door and removed a laptop computer valued at $550.
  • Edward Mattson, 37, of San Francisco, was charged with driving while intoxicated after being pulled over on Route 202/206 Aug. 4.
  • Tomas Ramos, 24, and Lavar Thomas, 33, both of Newark, were charged with shoplifiting about $1,371.10 worth of merchandise from Lord & Taylor Aug. 5.
  • Workers at The Sunglass Hut, in the Bridgewater Commons Mall, reported Aug. 5 that someone removed about $2,000 worth of sunglasses from the store.
