Registration Opens for 'Watercolors in the Garden' at Leonard J. Buck Garden

Watercolors in the Garden: Painting Pleasures will be held Thursday, Sept. 15.

The Somerset County Park Commission Leonard J. Buck Garden has scheduled a one-day class, “Watercolors in the Garden,” for Thursday, Sept. 15 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The session will take place at Leonard J. Buck Garden, 11 Layton Rd., in Far Hills.

Internationally known nature and wildlife artist Beatrice Bork will provide instruction on capturing Buck Garden’s beauty on paper. Students will be guided in choosing a location when painting outdoors, paint application, mixing colors, composition and how to create a finished watercolor painting. Basic drawing skills are recommended.

Fee is $40 per person. Preregistration is required by calling Leonard J. Buck Garden at (908) 234-2677, ext. 21, or N.J. Relay 711 for individuals with a hearing or speech impairment. Rain date is Friday, Sept. 16.

Leonard J. Buck Garden is one of the premier rock gardens in the eastern U.S., consisting of a series of alpine and woodland garden areas situated in a 29-acre wooded stream valley.

Tucked among the rocks are rare and exotic rock garden plants. The wooded trails connecting the outcroppings are lined with beautiful wild flowers that have flourished and multiplied through the years. Throughout the garden grow various trees, shrubs and perennials.
