While I do not feel that there is any threat to BRRSD, as a precautionary measure, I did issue a directive this afternoon to all staff to make sure all security procedures are being followed in strict accordance with the district's Crisis Management Plan and standard operating protocols.
Children are likely to be upset by this tragedy. We believe that if possible, parents should always be the ones to first address their children's questions and fears. However, if your child continues to be upset or has any worries about attending school next week, please don't hesitate to contact his/her principal, guidance counselor or teacher.

Sincerely,
Mike Schilder
Superintendent
