Think Your Chili is Pretty Hot?
If your chili or chowder recipes have the right stuff, you could win a $100 prize package.

If your friends rave about your chili or family chowder recipe, you might want to take a batch to the Somerville Elks Lodge's first Chili and Chowder Cookoff, hosted by Maggiano’s Executive Chef Jim McGrady.
The cookoff set for Oct. 27 will accept home cooks' entries for red and white chowder, traditional chili and unique chili. Entrants will need to bring a 2-gal. batch (and a heat source)—but the winner will receive a Somerville Elks "Master Chef" jacket and a Taste of the Town package valued at $100. Runners up will receive $25 gift certificates for Maggiano's.
All contestants will get commemorative T-shirts.
The cookoff will be held at the Somerville Elks Lodge, at 350 Union Ave. in Bridgewater, with doors opening at 2 p.m. Oct. 27.
Tickets to attend are $12 pre-event and $15 at the door, and all proceeds will benefit Elks Charities. To register or order tickets, go to the event's registration page on Survey Monkey. For more information, call 908-625-8136.
