'13 Skeletons' a Halloween Tradition on Bridgewater Lawn
Resident Jim Adams lets a story of the skeletons unfold every October.
In October of each year, a group of playful skeletons emerge in the front lawn of Jim Adams. They move about the property on Route 202/206 and eventually organize themselves into an acrobatic feat.
The 13 skeletons have become a neighborhood fixture, and Adams said he enjoys seeing what he can do with the Halloween decorations.
"I have a lot of fun with it, as you can see," he said.
Adams moves his decorations slowly for about two weeks, before his display reaches its "finale." He said he'll move a skeleton a little here, then another a little there, so that over time, it appears they're moving about the property.
"I do something just so that people, when they see them, ask, 'Did that move,'" Adams said.
His biggest fans may be the kids on school buses, traveling past the house daily, but he knows adults driving by commuting to work or maybe to the store, also get a kick out of it.
"I have people leaving me cards and gifts...there's been really cool gifts," he said.
The while thing started several years ago when he said he was looking at his two rather staid skeleton decorations while sitting on his front porch and thought he could do something a little more fun.
He began adding more skeletons, but it was the suggestion of one of his daughters that gave him the idea for how the skeletons manage to end up each year.
We won't give away the ending for those who have been enjoying the skeletons' antics, but Adams said they should reach their playful height around Oct. 13—take a drive by the property between Bluestone Road and Heather Hill Way to watch the skeletons because, as he notes, "They'll be doing other things around the yard."
