Allied Health Certificate Programs Offered at Essex County College

A pair of Allied Health certificate programs will be offered starting in February at the West Essex campus of Essex County College in West Caldwell. Call (973) 877-1920 for registration information.

       Pharmacy Technician is a 14 session certificate program designed to prepare students for employment as a technician working under the direction of a registered pharmacist in a hospital or community pharmacy setting. The class will meet Saturdays, starting February 16, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be prepared to take the national certificate examination. The cost of the program is $775.

   Telemetry/EKG Technician certificate program is for people interested in becoming certified cardiographic technicians. The 13 session class will meet Saturdays, beginning February 16, from 9 a.m. to 2:25 p.m. These technicians provide physicians and registered nurses with information needed to evaluate and treat heart ailments of patients in both hospital and other health care facilities. The curriculum covers basic cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, basic cardiovascular electrophysiology, and the types and effects of cardiac medicine on the heart. Participants who successfully complete the program will be eligible to take the Certified Cardiographic Technician exam. The total cost of the program is $775.
