Caldwell Building Has Open Applications For Affordable Housing
Applications are being taken for affordable housing units at an apartment building in Caldwell. Here's how to get on the waiting list.
CALDWELL, NJ — Applications are being taken for affordable housing units at an apartment building in Caldwell, borough officials announced this week.
Interested renters can submit a preliminary application online here for apartments at The Manor at Caldwell, which is located at 26-30 Lane Avenue. People without an email account can call 609-664-2769, ext. 5. The deadline to get on the waiting list is Sept. 24.
According to a municipal advisory, there will be 34 new affordable apartments ready for occupancy in the fall. Pets are not allowed. The building is a smoke-free community.

A random lottery will determine the priority order of the applications. People who live and work in Essex, Morris, Union and Warren counties will be selected before residents of other counties or states.
Rents depend on income levels and range from $512 per month for a one-bedroom unit to $1,704 for a three-bedroom unit, not including utilities (see chart below).
