Caldwell Man Arrested On Charges of Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, Drug Distribution

A 19-year-old Caldwell man was arrested by Caldwell Police on Tuesday night and charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, drug charges.

A 19-year-old Caldwell man was arrested Tuesday night, and charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, and distribution and possession of drugs, Caldwell Police report. 

On Dec. 2, at approximately 10:55 p.m., Caldwell Police Department Officers Zeichner, Adamo and Sergeant Pellegrino were dispatched to a Roseland Avenue residence on the report of an unwanted person at the home, Police said.

“Officers arrived and spoke with the male party identified as Derrick Johnson, 19, of Caldwell,” Chief of Police James H. Bongiorno stated. “After further investigation, Johnson was arrested for Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of Prescription Pills, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.”

Following his arrest, Johnson (pictured) was transported to the Caldwell Police Department, where he is currently being held on $25,000 bail.
