Local Charity Donates 50 Turkeys to Help Caldwell, West Caldwell Families

Vero Amici held a food drive for the Caldwell-West Caldwell Local Assistance Board. The charity has donated 400 turkeys over the years.

Vero Amici, a Caldwell charity, donated 50 turkeys to the Caldwell-West Caldwell Local Assistance Board on Monday, Nov. 24. The turkeys will be distributed to Caldwell and West Caldwell families in need.

The charity was called to action when Vero Amici president, Joseph Garamella, received a call from director Maria Burak stating that the Board was desperately in need of turkeys to distribute to local families for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday.

“Maria called us and told me about the turkey shortage and we acted right away,” Garamella said. “In the past seven years, we have donated over 400 turkeys to this local food bank, along with $35,000 to help keep the food bank stocked throughout the year.”

“Part of our mission as a charity is to help promote local awareness,” Garamella added. “We are here to make the community aware that there are people and families in our area that are less fortunate and in need of assistance. They could be your neighbor or someone who sits next to you at church.”

“We are asking that the citizens of Caldwell and West Caldwell please help by donating food or money to the Local Assistance Board,” Garamella said.
