Power Outage Update In Chatham

On Thursday, swaths of Chatham remained without power. Here is when the power is expected to be restored:

CHATHAM, NJ — Power outages have continued to hit wide swaths of Chatham on Thursday as JCP&L experienced a major equipment failure, authorities said.

According to JCP&L’s online outage map, nearly 2,000 homes in the Chatham area are without power. Estimated restoration times ranged from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., with additional crews requested to assist with the outages.

Chatham Borough officials said that the power company has experienced a major equipment failure and is working diligently to restore power.

As summer temperatures continue to rise today, with forecasters predicting a high of 90 degrees on Thursday, borough officials have announced that Memorial Park Pool will be open to all residents for free today.

According to JCP&L spokesman Chris Hoenig, the electric company's crew did not know the exact cause of the outage, but it appeared to be a trip that affected several circuits.
