4 New Electric Vehicle Chargers Added Around Chatham
The new vehicle chargers will be distributed among Nash Field and Shunpike Field in Chatham Township.

CHATHAM, NJ — Four new electric vehicle chargers are split up among two Chatham Township community parks.
The Blink Mobile/SemaConnect charging stations, located at Nash Field and Shunpike Field, are now available for public use, following an official unveiling by the Chatham Township Committee, in collaboration with the Environmental Commission.
Each location has two Level 2 chargers that can provide up to 25 miles of range per hour of charging, making them ideal for recharging electric vehicles while running errands or participating in outdoor activities.

A Level 2 charger, when compared to a Level 1 charger, allows a user to charge an electric car five to seven times faster than a full-electric car or up to three times faster than a plug-in hybrid.
“We are thrilled to introduce these charging stations to the community,” said Mayor Ashley Felice. “As electric vehicles become increasingly popular, it’s important for our community to have convenient access to charging stations. Our hope is that these charging stations will make it easier for residents and visitors to power up their vehicles and continue their daily activities with ease.”

Nash Field is located at 405 Southern Boulevard, while Shunpike Field is located off of Shunpike Road.
The charging stations are simple to use and can be opened with a "tap to pay" credit card, a mobile wallet, or a mobile app. The app makes it simple for EV owners to keep track of their charging sessions by providing real-time updates on the status and cost of charging.
The installation of the EV charging stations was made possible by a $16,000 grant from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection's "It Pay$ to Plug In" program.
Nearly 300 kilowatt hours of electricity were served by these two charging stations in the first quarter since they were installed, generating revenue for the Township while providing a public service.
To complete the project, the Chatham Township Environmental Commission developed the grant application, and the Department of Public Works installed the equipment in-house.
