Chatham Native Named 'Cadet of the Month' At Marine Military Academy

A Chatham native was among seven others named as “Cadets of the Month” for March 2015 at the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, Texas.

Jonathan Carlsson of Chatham was named Cadet of the Month for Fox Company for March 2015, the Marine Military Academy (MMA) announced. The cadets who receive the distinction are nominated by they drill instructor for their exemplary attitude, conduct, academic performance and involvement at MMA.

Carlsson, who received the award on April 3 in front of the MMA Corps of Cadets, was also treated to a special dinner hosted by the MMA superintendent and his wife, the academy said.

Upon graduating from the Marine Military Academy, Carlsson plans on attending a Tier 1 college and majoring in computer science, according to a report from NJ.com. Carlsson plans on becoming a computer engineer.
