CHATHAM, NJ — “Boost NJ Day” was created by Gov. Phil Murphy to raise awareness of the one-year anniversary on Dec. 15, 2020, when a Newark University Hospital nurse received her first COVID shot.

In honor of the day, Chatham Borough tweeted an infographic from the state about "Boost Day" on Wednesday, offering reasons the State of New Jersey’s Department of Health advocates for scheduling appointments for COVID-19 booster shots.

According to the infographic, COVID boosters are “safe, effective and free.”

The state also recommends COVID booster shots to:

  • “Boost” protection, which may have decreased since a person took their most recent COVID-19 shot.
  • Protect the person receiving the booster shot and those around them as they celebrate the holidays.
  • Lower the chance of COVID-19 spread, with people 18 or older, candidates for the booster, if their last shot from Pfizer or Moderna was at least six months ago; or from J&J was at least two months ago.

How can a Chatham resident schedule their booster shot appointment? They may visit www.covid19.nj.gov/vaccine or call 1-855-429-1168.
