Chatham Resident Inducted into Prestigious Honor Society
A Wheaton College student was recently inducted into a national honor society.

A Chatham native and Wheaton College student was recently inducted into a prestigious honor society, college officials said.
John Gildersleeve, a student studying philosophy with Bible theology at Wheaton College, was inducted into the Phi Sigma Tau National Honor Society by the college’s Philosophy Department. Phi Sigma Tau recognizes excellence in philosophy.
Phi Sigma Tau, founded in 1930, has more than 200 chapters at both public and private colleges and universities through the United States and Canada. According to its website, the honor society’s purpose is to encourage interest and activity among students and to promote ties between philosophy departments in accredited institutions.

To be eligible for induction into Phi Sigma Tau, an undergraduate student must have completed three semester of college courses, rank in the upper 35 percent of his or her class and have completed at least two semester courses or three quarter courses in philosophy with an average grade of over the second high grade of the working scale, according to the honor society.
Gildersleeve was presented with the honor at the Wheaton College Honors Convocation on Wednesday, April 29.
