'Street-N-Treat' + 'Truck Or Treat' Among Chatham's Halloween Fun

"Street-N-Treat" and "Truck Or Treat" are some of Chatham's featured "spooktacular" happenings, plus check out Halloween safety tips here.

CHATHAM, NJ — “Street-N-Treat” and “Truck Or Treat” are two ways that treat-seekers can grab up some Halloween goodies and ghoulishly-good times, this coming weekend in the Chathams.

On Saturday, Chatham Borough’s Department of Community Services is hosting - and the Farmers’ Market is presenting - Halloween Street-N-Treat from 10 a.m. to noon.

Registration for the event begins at the Farmers’ Market at noon at Railroad Plaza South off of Fairmount Avenue, with kids’ craft activities and family-geared music by Carolyn Dempsey, to kick off the fun.

Starting at 11 a.m. among the happenings, is the costume judging for children along with prizes, giveaways from PBA Local 226, treats from Turpin Realtors and “Boo in the Borough” until 1 p.m., where attendees can stop to spin the wheel at the Chatham Cultural Committee’s table to win a prize.

Chatham High School’s National Art Society’s “Pumpkin Walk,” sponsored by the Chatham Education Association, continues through Sunday in Chatham Borough downtown stores.

The seasonal, hand-painted pumpkins were artfully created with eye-popping designs by Chatham High School artists and include a scavenger hunt, with a gift basket raffle from T.M. Ward. Click here to view the pumpkin display map.

On Sunday, stop by to the Chatham Township Fire Department at the entrance to the ball field on Longwood Avenue from 3:30 to 7 p.m. for their “Truck Or Treat.” Stop by to the engine to “say ‘hi’ and get a treat.”

Chatham Borough shared the following Halloween Safety Tips from the American Safety Council:

Stay in groups
Costumes should be well-fitting and flame-resistant
Always test makeup
Remember to look both ways when crossing streets
Examine all treats before eating

Stay on sidewalks when possible
Avoid dark houses
Flashlights + glow sticks for visibility
Enjoy with caution!
