Chatham Township, Borough Crime - See The Latest Data
The Department of Law and Public Safety has released the latest crime data in its Uniform Crime Report.

The Department of Law and Public Safety today, April 17, released the 2013 Uniform Crime Report (UCR), which shows crime data for the state and municipalities.
Chatham Borough had a decrease in violent crime in 2013 from 2012, the UCR said. The borough, however, had a an increase in non-violent crime in 2013.

Chatham Township had a decrease in violent crime in 2013 from 2012, but also saw an increase in non-violent crime in 2013, compared to 2012.
The Department of Law and Public Safety’s report indicated New Jersey’s overall crime rate decreased by seven percent in 2013, compared to 2012, according to a press release from the department.

Chatham Borough reported two violent crimes in 2013, down from three in 2012, and the violent crime rate per 1,000 people decreased from 0.3 to 0.2, the report said. The borough saw an increase in non-violent crime, from 48 in 2012 to 56 in 2013. The non-violent crime rate per 1,000 increased, from 5.3 in 2012 to 6.2 in 2013.
Chatham Township did not report any violent crimes in 2013, compared to one in 2012, and the violent crime rate per 1,000 decreased from 0.1 in 2012 to 0.0 in 2013, the report said. The township saw an increase in non-violent crimes, however, from 25 in 2012 to 42 in 2013. The non-violent crime rate per 1,000 increased from 2.4 in 2012 to 4.0 in 2013.
