Chatham Township One Of NJ's Safest Cities In New Ranking
AdvisorSmith said as far as towns go, you won't find much safer than Chatham Township in the Garden State.
CHATHAM, NJ - Using reported crime data from the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reporting Dataset, AdvisorSmith has named Chatham Township one of the safest midsize cities in the Garden State.
The average crime score among the 37 large cities in New Jersey was 41, with the lowest score being 10, and the highest being 165. Large cities in New Jersey were those with over 50,000 residents, the report said.
Among midsize cities in New Jersey, the average crime score was 23. These cities included those with between 10,000 and 50,000 residents. The range of crime scores for midsize cities was between 3 and 130.

Chatham Township's stats:
- Violent Crimes per 1,000 Residents: 0.2
- Property Crimes per 1,000 Residents: 2.6
- Crime Score: 2.8
The safest midsize city in New Jersey was Warren. This city is located on the western outskirts of the Newark metropolitan area along I-78. The city has very high median household incomes and boasts wide open spaces, high-quality schools, and a quick commute to New York City.
