Tree Limb Falls On Wires, Impacting Chatham Rail Commuters
Commuters could still see 60-minute delays on NJ Transit's Morris and Essex Line due to the fallen tree limb on Friday, the company said.
CHATHAM, NJ — A tree that fell on overhead wires and temporarily suspended NJ Transit’s Morris and Essex line on Friday morning, may still cause up to 60-minute travel delays, according to NJ Transit.
The rail line was temporarily suspended in both directions between Summit and Denville at about 8:33 a.m., according to an alert from the company, because of a tree sitting on overhead wires in the Chatham area.
Rail service was resumed for the Morris and Essex line at about 8:52 a.m., but the company stated in its update, that travelers could experience up to 60 minute delays in both directions.

“NJT rail tickets and passes continue to be cross-honored by NJT bus and private carriers,” the company stated in an update at 9:41 a.m.
