Duo Wanted For Aggravated Battery Arrested In Chatham
The two suspects, from Newark and Bloomfield, were wanted for aggravated battery and taken into police custody this month.
CHATHAM, NJ — Two suspects who were both wanted for aggravated battery were taken into police custody earlier this month, according to Chatham Township Police Chief Thomas Miller.
The pair were identified as Zahkiea Herring, 23, of Newark, and Carissa Kirkland, 23, of Bloomfield, police said.
Both Herring and Kirkland had outstanding warrants from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia, for aggravated battery.

On the morning of Nov. 2, Sergeant Anthony Loporto stopped a car that was making its way north on Southern Boulevard. The vehicle was being driven by Herring, with Kirkland riding in the passenger seat.
A quick roadside investigation revealed that both Herring and Kirkland had outstanding warrants, and the Jackson County Sheriff's Office asked that they be held in order to be extradited to their jurisdiction.

Both suspects were taken into custody by Sergeant Loporto, and they were then brought to the Morris County Correctional Facility to wait for an extradition hearing, Miller said.
