NJ Mall Shooting Leads To 7 Arrests, Police Say
Several charged following the "chaotic scene" are minors, police said.

WAYNE, NJ — Police have rounded up seven people, including several minors, who were involved in a shooting and a fight at a mall food court in Wayne recently.
On Dec. 30, police were called to Willowbrook Mall in Wayne after reports of shots fired in the food court.
As shoppers fled the mall during the “chaotic scene,” police arrested three people, two adults and one minor.

Ashir Walker, 18, Kashjeme Powell, 18, and a 17-year-old were arrested and charged with inciting a public brawl, disorderly conduct, and simple assault. All three hail from Paterson.
The mall was briefly evacuated and continued operating as normal the following day.

An investigation was launched to find the other parties involved, including the person who fired the single gunshot, which did not strike anyone.
Early Friday morning, several law enforcement agencies conducted searches in Paterson and Winslow Township as the investigation continued.
The searches led to the arrest of four more people, as well as the recovery of a stolen pistol believed to be the same one used in the food court, police said.
Two of the four people arrested were 17 years old and were issued a slew of charges, including riot involving a firearm, terroristic threats, risking widespread injury, and simple assault, to name a few.
Also arrested was Wilhelmina Kelson, 62, of Paterson, who was charged with hindering apprehension, and Kayson N. McCaskill, 18, of Paterson, who also received a slew of charges.
