Field Hockey Team Defeats Mendham in Season Opener

The Chatham High School Cougars are off to a strong start in the fall sports season this year.
On Wednesday, Sept. 5:
The girls tennis team defeated Parsippany Hills 5-0 in the first match of the season. The following girls were victorious in their respective matches:

- First Singles - Emily Srocynski
- Second Singles - Kendal Contri
- Third Singles - Alison Ramsland
- First Doubles - Julia Edgar and Ashley Perselay
- Second Doubles - Katie Howard-Johnson and Jess Sullivan
The JV girls tennis team defeated Parsippany Hills 13-0.

The girls field hockey team defeated Mendham 3-2. Freshman forward Jess Barry scored her first varsity goal with 5:09 left in the second half to break a 2-2 tie. Barry took a cross from senior forward Hannah Reader and used a reverse sweep to score the game winner. Reader and junior Danielle Melchionna both finished with a goal and an assist.
The JV girls field hockey team defeated Mendham 3-0.
The following games are scheduled for Friday, Sept. 7:
- Football travels to Montville for a 7 p.m. game
- Girls soccer hosts Parsippany Hills at 4 p.m.
- Boys soccer travels to Parsippany Hills at 4 p.m.
- Volleyball travels to Morristown for a 4 p.m. game.
- Girls tennis team travels to Morristown for a 4 p.m. game.
- Boys and girls cross country compete in the Randolph Invitational at 6 p.m.
- JV girls soccer hosts Parsippany Hills at 4 p.m.
- JV boys soccer travels to Parsippany Hills at 4 p.m.
- JV volleyball hosts Morristown at 4 p.m.
